The Cultural Institute has an extensive programme of cultural and educational activities, encompassing concerts, music education initiatives, audiovisual productions, documentary films, multimedia projects, and publications.
These activities are developed in collaboration with leading state, educational, and cultural institutions, including the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov,” the National Academy of Art, New Bulgarian University, the Sofia Philharmonic, arts schools in Sofia and throughout the country, the Lozenets District Administration, as well as schools and community cultural centres in the Lozenets neighbourhood. The Institute also maintains partnerships with some of Bulgaria’s leading music festivals, among them the Sofia Music Weeks International Festival, the European Music Festival, the Varna Summer International Music Festival, the International March Music Days Festival, and others.
Multidisciplinary and educational initiatives are a particular focus of the museum’s work. Over the years, the museum has developed a diverse range of projects, including Another Perspective: A Series of Masterclasses; The Jewish Presence in Bulgarian Musical Culture; Vladigerov – A Close-Up; the concert series In the Spirit of Vladigerov; the multidisciplinary project SYN(es)THESIS; and the documentary film series A Touch of Vladigerov, among others.
Together, these initiatives contribute to the development of artistic and human potential, while preserving, interpreting, and promoting Bulgaria’s cultural heritage. They are designed to engage a wide range of audiences, from music professionals and emerging artists to students and enthusiasts, fostering a deeper appreciation of musical culture and its diverse forms of expression.
Pancho Vladigerov’s Scores: A Digital Legacy
The project involves the preparation of new digital editions of Vladigerov’s musical scores, together with the acquisition of a dedicated server to ensure the secure storage, long-term preservation, and reliable operation of the digital archive.

Celebratory Ceremony on March 28 at Peroto Literary Club (“The Quill”)
The event marked the 20th anniversary of the opening of the permanent exhibition at the Pancho Vladigerov House Museum. It brought together prominent musicians, journalists, representatives of cultural institutions, and partner organisations. The museum presented honorary plaques to distinguished contributors and hosted a short musical programme.

Illustrated Documentary Exhibition “Tsar Kaloyan: An Opera by Pancho Vladigerov”
This new exhibition comprises ten display panels featuring archival material from the museum’s collection and the archives of leading opera institutions. It was presented for the first time in Stara Zagora in July and November 2025, marking the 100th anniversary of the city’s opera theatre and forming part of the Festival of Opera and Ballet Art (FOBA).

2025 Concert Series “In The Spirit of Vladigerov”
Conceived as a dialogue between past and present, the new edition of the series comprises five concerts held in the Ballroom of the National Art Gallery – The Palace. The programme brings together a diverse range of perspectives, including performances by young pianists, a joint Bulgarian-Romanian project dedicated to Pancho Vladigerov and George Enescu, a “family” concert featuring the composer’s descendants, a piano recital by Ivo Varbanov, and an international chamber concert featuring works by Vladigerov.

Illustrated Documentary Exhibition “Pancho Vladigerov in the Musical Spectrum of the 20th Century: Directions, Connections, Reflections”
A presentation of the complete exhibition through a series of roll-up panels featuring archival documents from the museum’s collection, complemented by new content exploring Vladigerov’s contacts and artistic relationships with composers and other cultural figures from Greece and Romania.
Pancho Vladigerov’s Scores: A Digital Legacy — 125 Years Since the Composer’s Birth
Launched in 2023, the project focuses on digitising works from the composer’s less frequently performed repertoire and making them readily accessible and available for wider dissemination. This includes the preparation of full scores and instrumental parts suitable for publication and use by fellow musicians, performers, conductors, and ensembles of various configurations.

Documentary Film Series 𝘼 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙑𝙡𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙫
The series comprises five film screenings offering different perspectives on the composer’s artistic journey, his global influence, creative process, and key stages of life.

Conservation, Restoration and Preservation of Archival Documents and Artworks from the Collection of the Pancho Vladigerov House Museum
The project focuses on personal documents, correspondence, programmes, and posters dating from 1918 to 1932 that are in poor physical condition, as well as paintings from Pancho Vladigerov’s personal collection. The project is being carried out in partnership with specialists from the National Art Gallery.
The collections of personal documents, correspondence, programmes, and posters carefully assembled by Pancho Vladigerov offer a unique insight into his rich creative and performing activities, tracing his development from the formative years of 1918–1932 to the mature works of his later career.

2024 Concert Series “In the Spirit of Vladigerov”
The inaugural edition of the series was held to mark the 125th anniversary of Pancho Vladigerov’s birth and comprised five concerts recreating several original concert programmes preserved in the maestro’s archive. The series explored Vladigerov’s distinctive approach and artistic vision in shaping concert repertoire, placing them in the broader context of the musical and artistic traditions of the 20th century.
